Discover Pizza Supreme

If you’ve ever driven past 678 Stewart Ave, Garden City, NY 11530, United States around lunchtime, you’ve probably noticed the steady stream of people heading into the little diner that locals swear by for its legendary Pizza Supreme. I stopped in on a rainy Thursday after wrapping up a long shift at a nearby retail store, and the smell of bubbling mozzarella and roasted garlic was enough to erase any memory of a rough day.

What makes this place different isn’t just the pizza menu, it’s how carefully each pie is put together. I watched the cook stretch the dough by hand, then brush it lightly with olive oil before ladling on crushed San Marzano tomatoes. According to data from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, hand-stretched dough ferments better and traps more air, which leads to a lighter crust. You can taste that difference here; the base is crisp on the edges but still airy in the middle, so it doesn’t sag when you lift a slice.

Their signature Pizza Supreme is stacked with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and black olives, but nothing feels heavy. The cheese blend melts into every crevice, and the toppings are roasted instead of steamed. The owner once told me he keeps the oven just under 500 degrees to avoid burning the vegetables while still getting that slight char people crave. It’s the kind of detail you only pick up after years in the kitchen, and it shows.

I’ve written plenty of restaurant reviews over the years, and this diner stands out because the staff treat every order like it’s going on their own table. A couple of months ago I brought my niece here after her soccer game. She’s picky about food, yet she demolished two slices and declared it the best pizza ever. That’s not a lab test, but it’s a real-world case study that matters to families hunting for a reliable dinner spot.

Health-conscious diners often ask if a loaded pizza can still fit into a balanced meal. Research from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health notes that combining protein, vegetables, and carbs in moderation can support steady energy levels. While a Pizza Supreme isn’t a salad, the mix of meats and vegetables provides more variety than a plain cheese pie. The diner even offers whole wheat crust on request, which is something I rarely see in classic pizza joints.

The menu doesn’t stop at pizza either. There are baked ziti trays for office lunches, chicken parm heroes for quick takeout, and daily specials that rotate based on what’s fresh. The location is convenient for Garden City residents, and parking is never a nightmare, which adds to the appeal when you’re juggling errands.

Online reviews paint a consistent picture: friendly service, generous portions, and prices that don’t feel inflated. Still, it’s fair to admit I haven’t tried every single dish, and I can’t speak for their late-night rush on weekends. What I do know is that each visit has been reliable, from the moment I place my order to the last cheesy bite.

Whether you’re a commuter grabbing a slice, a family planning a casual dinner, or a foodie chasing that perfect balance of crunch and flavor, this diner delivers. There’s something comforting about knowing a place where the craft hasn’t been rushed, and where a Pizza Supreme still feels like a small celebration rather than just another meal.

  • Great square slices. Always fresh. Garlic knots are some of the best I have ever had. Can eat just the knots with a side of sauce as a meal. Covered in oil, garlic and spices will have you wanting more. Great staff and great service.
